Fulfill court-ordered community service hours by helping to cleanup a park in a neighborhood near you. Locations, dates, and times vary and will be determined after a phone screening. We want to ensure your shift will work with your schedule and transit options.
Please arrive on time and ready to work at the start of your shift. Please bring a water bottle, wear close-toed shoes, and dress appropriately for the weather. Training and tools will be provided on-site.
Tasks may include:
- Litter pickup
- Landscaping
- Planting
- Trail Maintenance
A typical schedule for our community service volunteers is from:
- Monday to Fridays, 8am to 2pm
- Saturdays 8am to 12pm
The Community Service Process:
1. Sign Up
From this opportunity page, click Respond, then Sign Up.
On the Create an Account Page, select Court-Ordered Community Service Application.
Fill out the application.
Tip: Remember your password! You'll sign in later to submit your service hours.
2. Phone Screening
Once your application is submitted, Volunteer Services will follow up for a 10 to 15 minute phone screening to place you in the right service opportunity. Or you may call (503) 823-5121 from Monday to Friday, 9am to 2pm during the summer months or 9am to 5pm during other seasons to begin your screening process.
3. Scheduling
We will schedule you after the phone screening.
4. Attend Your Community Service Shifts
Arrive on time and ready to work! You will receive 2 bonus community service hours for showing up on time for your first shift.
5. Add Your Own Service Hours
After you attend each community service shift, sign into your Get Connected account to add your own hours.

- Sign into your account
- Click Add Hours from the top menu.
- Select the opportunity you are assigned to, then select the shift or fill in the date and worked and hours worked.
- For User Groups, select Community Service.
- Then click, Submit Hour Entry.
- A staff member will review your hours for approval.
6. Finish Community Service
Please reach out to Volunteer.Services@PortlandOregon.gov when you have completed your hours. We will verify your service hours completion, then send an email to the email address you provided in the application to confirm your hours and provide any notes about work ethic. We would love to give you a great review!
